Calcium lactate is an organic compound commonly used in food additives and nutraceuticals.
Calcium lactate powder can be absorbed at various pH levels, so it does not need to be taken with food for absorption. Adding calcium lactate to sugar-free foods can prevent tooth decay. When added to chewing gum containing xylitol, it increases the remineralization of tooth enamel. It is also added to fresh-cut fruit, such as cantaloupe, to keep it firm and extend its shelf life without the bitter taste caused by calcium chloride, which is also used for this purpose.
