Chemical name: Ferrous sulfate
English name: Ferrous Sulfate, green vitriol
Molecular formula: FeSO4·7H2O, dry product, FeSO4·nH2O
Molecular weight: 278.02 (heptahydrate)
CAS NO: 7782-63-0 (heptahydrate) 17375-41-6 (dry product)
Properties: Dark blue-green monoclinic crystalline powder or granules. Odorless, with a salty, astringent taste. It will weather in dry air and easily oxidize into brown basic iron sulfate in humid air. Easily soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol.
Usage: Nutritional supplement (iron fortifier); fruit and vegetable color agent.
Packaging: Lined with polyethylene plastic bag, outer plastic woven bag, 25kg per bag.
Storage and transportation: It should be stored in a dry, ventilated and clean warehouse, handled with care, to prevent moisture and heat. During transportation, it should be protected from rain and moisture, and should be isolated and stacked away from toxic substances.

Function and Appplication:
1.Nutritional Supplement. Together with other iron compounds, ferrous sulphate is used to fortify foods and treat irondeficiency anemia.Constipation is a frequent and uncomfortable side effect associatedwith the administration of oral supplements.Stool softeners often are bprescribed to prevent constipa tion.
2.Water effluent treatment system. It's used for purification of drinking water and wastewater treatment by settling of impurities by means of precipitation and flocculation.
3.Paper Industry. It helps in sizing of paper at neutral and alkaline pH, thus improving paper quality (reducing spots and holes and improving sheet formation and strength) and sizing efficiency.
4. Textile Industry. It is used for color fixing in Naphthol based dyes for cotton fabric.
5. Other Uses. Leather tanning, lubricating compositions, fire retardants; decolorizing agent in petroleum, deodorizer; food additive; firming agent; dyeing mordant; foaming agent in firefighting foams; fireproofing cloth; catalyst; pH control; waterproofing concrete; aluminum compounds, zeolites
