5. Properties: White solid, tasteless and odorless. Insoluble in water and alcohol. Reacts with dilute acid and releases carbon dioxide at the same time, showing an exothermic reaction. Also soluble in ammonium chloride solution. Almost insoluble in water. Decomposes at 825~896.6ºC. Melting point 1339ºC. It is stable in the air and has slight moisture absorption ability.

6. Usage: It can be used as filler in rubber, plastics, papermaking, paint and ink industries. It is widely used in organic synthesis, metallurgy, glass and asbestos production.
