Sodium diacetate can be used in various industries in the manufacturing of different products. Below are some of the applications of sodium diacetate.
Food:
The main purpose of using it in food with its following 3 functions:
1. a preservative to extend food shelf life in bread and meat.
2. a flavoring agent to impart a vinegar taste in savory food.
3. a solid source of free acetic acid to adjust the acidity of food.
Feed:
Sodium diacetate can be used as a preservative in feed for poultry, pigs and pet animals.
Cosmetics:
It can function as a buffering and masking agents in cosmetic and personal care products.
Medical:
Sodium diacetate plays an important role in regulating the pH level of the dialysis solution. It also benefits clinics in storing, only to dissolve the dry mix, instead of having to store a liquid product.
