Description

Pu'er tea (scientific name: Camellia sinensis var. assamica), a large tree, up to 16 meters high, with fine hairs on young branches and white hairs on the terminal buds. The leaves are thin leathery, oval, brown-green and slightly shiny on the upper side after drying, light green on the lower side, with hairs on the midrib and short hairs on the rest, and old leaves become bald; 8-9 pairs of lateral veins, obvious on the upper side. Flowers are axillary and covered with hairs. 2 bracts, caducous early. 5 sepals, nearly round, glabrous on the outside. 6-7 petals, obovate, glabrous. Stamens are 8-10 mm long, free, glabrous. Ovary 3-chambered, covered with hairs; style 8 mm long, 3-lobed at the apex. Capsule is flat triangular spherical. There is one seed per chamber, nearly round, with a diameter of 1 cm.

Pu'er tea is mainly produced in Xishuangbanna, Lincang, Pu'er and other areas in Yunnan Province. Pu'er tea is about brewing skills and drinking art. There are many ways to drink it. It can be drunk alone or mixed with other teas. Pu'er tea soup is orange-yellow and thick, with a high, sharp and lasting aroma, unique fragrance, rich taste, and long-lasting brewing.
